APPLICATION

The Hammer Mill has been specifically designed for use with wet and dry granulation, pulverization, dispersion of products, or ingredients found in the Pharmaceutical, Chemical and Food Industries.

DESCRIPTION

Latest improvements in design to our hammer mills make the unit a truly GMP model and versatile in operation & maintenance.

Units consist of SS 304 quality hopper, feed throat and processing chamber (this can be provided in SS 316 quality if required) complete with beater assembly, heavy duty motor, star-delta starter with overload relay, three speed step pulley, suitable screen, SS clad base having tubular legs with castors, optional jacket for the feed throat and processing chamber for cooling is also available.

OPERATION

Product held in the hopper, slides into the enclosed chamber where it is milled between the beaters and the screen to the required mesh/micron size. This then collects at the bottom of the mill in the container provided.

Quality and output depends upon the three main variables:

  1. Beaters shape (knife/impact forward];
  2. speed; and
  3. screen size

Knife edge for coarse or large particles and impact or flat edge for finer particles. High speed for fine grinding, low speed for coarser particles. A wide range of screens is available for various process needs.

Perforated Square Holes: 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 7/8" and 1 1/8".
TYPE 'B' SCREENS Perforated Round Holes with back reinforcing plate: 1/50", 1/42", 1/37", 1/32", 1/25", 1/20" and 1/16".

SALIENT FEATURES
  • From a GMP perspective the machine is provided with SS cladding to the base, SS belt guards, and SS cover on motor. There are no exposed painted surfaces on top of the machine. Motor rails, screws and guide rods are chrome plated. Beater bearings are in separate pillow blocks for ease of maintenance.
  • To change the blades from a pulverising action to cutting is a simple operation for one operator, involving reversing the rotating blade.
  • A fixed beater assembly is provided as standard, which increases the output by 10 to 30%, reduces noise levels, and is easy to clean. If the product demands, swing beaters assembly can be provided.
  • The beater and shaft are of stainless steel 410 quality. The beaters are further hardened and hard chrome plated. Beaters are fitted on a splined shaft.
  • Transmission of heat to the chamber from the bearings is minimised as they are mounted in separate pillow blocks. This facilitates to some extent the processing of heat sensitive products.
  • The beater assembly is dynamically balanced which reduces vibration and noise levels, and increases bearings life. Braked castors can be offered as an option.
  • The machine is available in plain & water-jacketed models. Flame proof electricals can be provided on at an optional price.
