Milling of powders or granules is a fundemental process in most powder handling operations. Understandably, Powder Technology have a variety of such mills to offer to a number of industries namely the Hammer Mill, Cone Mill, Pin Mill and a Classifier Mill. The Hammer Mill utilises a number of hinged beaters revolving at high speed to break down the incoming particles before allowing them to pass from the Mill. The Cone Mill offers a different form of attrition in the form of a revolving beater which draws the material to be sized reduced into the action zone by means of centifugal forces. The Pin Mill works on the basis of product moving outwards between fast rotating pins and stationary pins. The size of the final particles is dictated by the speed of rotation and the clearances between the pins. Finally the Classifier Mill offers a predtermined size of particle by virtue of the classifier which retains oversized particles within the mill until they have reached the required paricle size.
